I think when they put a picture of a product in an ad it should show it in its original packaging. If you are buying this item for use in a vehicle I suggest that you shop around, spend a little more money and get something thats worth it. I tried several CD's and even installed it in a friends car to check it out still no go.
I thought when I was buying this item it would not be at all like the Wal-Mart variety. Once you take care of setting it all up it wasn't all that bad. Who would have thought that a Sony item with a retail value of $137.21 would come in a blister pack.
That is until 3 or 4 days into minimal use the left channel decided to quit working. I ended up getting a double shipment of this item which I must say Amazon took care of with no problem at all they were great. Well I decided to give it a try.
The wires for hooking up the player in a vehicle is like a spider web.
Flipped it over and it was 1000 times better. Then i realized that it was on the second side of the tape deck. So i had read the reviews of this but bought it anyway. I put it in and everything that the bad reviews had said about the volume seemed true.
I had to bang on it to make it stop, and that only made it fall apart faster. I used this player primarily for listening to while walking around. It began to skip A LOT after about a year of use.
anti-skip protection has no effect. the worst part of this is that the replacement cost under sony's "limited warranty" is equivalent to the price of a new cd player. the walkman i received worked magnificently and had a great sound and user interface. holding the cd player still has no effect. i'm going to take that money and invest in a different brand. then, out of nowhere, it started skipping on brand new cd's. and the skipping is the worst kind-- a half-second fragment of music, 2 seconds of silence, another fragment, 10 seconds of silence, etc.
By the way, my car is brand new so I don't think my speaker is the problem. Sounds great when listening with head phone but when I tried it in my car, it sounded so soft even when I full blasted the volume of the car and the volume of the cd player. It's nice but the volume disappoints me.
